Man I really hate those guy's!! It sure would be nice if say garlic repelled them or you could drop a lump of meat or an old suit of armor and they go for that. Hell they even rust wood!! Had a club eatten by one.
Better yet a scroll of genocide!!!! Like in the ole Hack/Nethack game!! It would only last one reset period and sure make it easier ... but BSK not to be too easy ... sure hate to lose that forged suit of armor or cloak ... might have to make special traveling gear. Like a wet suit .. think would work??
Now what evil genius thought of these bad boy's??? *looks over shoulder* Oh yeah ... we know who it is don't we my precious ... INCOMING!!!!!!!!!
speaking of rusties ... funny how they eat cloth armor as well and anything else that is not metal as well ... I wonder who the "Noob" who scripted these and put them in ... *sarcastic laughter* Oh wait I already know who the "noob" is.
Hordack The Dark "Thief of Blackstone Keep" Your only a "Legend" if the people believe the "myth's" that are told about you. "Dark Stalker" aka "Hordack The Dark Thief of Blackstone Keep"
Well, that would at least explain Hordack's fondness of them.
actualy I hate goats ... I prefer "witches" *wonders where Natasha is at?*

Regular rust monsters are not so bad ... once you get to know them ... invis and greater sanc works but those greater ones ... grrrrrrrrr ... send them to hell!! I'll buy the ticket! Oh yeah why do they eat cloth armor and clubs? Nice if a flute or violin put them to sleep for a couple of turns ... what about covering yourself in grease?? Probably just sauce for the goose! Scroll of genocide ... the only way ...

I beleive they have fixed the problem in 1.69.
Which was fixed? Eating non-metal objects or their true seeing ability?
There is no default way to tell if what an item is made out of. That is why the script sometimes eats clubs, clothes etc. The script was written by the CEP team.
They did the best they could do with what they had available.
