Upcoming Socket Changes

**Update**

You can upgrade gems by placing three of them in "The Magic Stone".

All items will now have only one(1) socket.

Runes only work on Helms, Shields and Armor.
Runes give physical immunity of 5% for Helms, 10% for Shields and 25% for Armor based on the rune type.(This stacks in case you didn't know.)
Runes will not be ranked. Dak runes add elemental immunities and do not work on weapons.
Runes used on any weapon type will add the extra damage property.

Gems work on weapons only and grant a random damage bonus type. Gems are now ranked.

All existing Socket Gems will be replaced on use by a Polished Socket Gem.

Gem Ranks:
1.Polished:
Melee = 1d4 Random Damage Type
Ranged = Mighty +1

2.Faceted:
Melee = 1d6 Random Damage Type
Ranged = Mighty +2

3.Exquisite:
Melee = 1d8 Random Damage Type
Ranged = Mighty +3

4.Flawless: 1d10
Melee = 1d10 Random Damage Type
Ranged = Mighty +4

5.Epic:
Melee = 2 Damage properties between 1d4 to 1d10
Ranged: Might +5 plus a random property from the following: Mighty +5, Massive Crits or Unlimited Ammo base to +5.

6.Legendary: 3 Properties with a random damage between 1d6 to 2d10
Melee = 3 Damage properties between 2d4 to 2d10
Ranged: 3 Properties from the following: Mighty +5, Massive Crits and Unlimited Ammo +5 or Random Elemental Damage Type

//Drop Table
1-49 Polished
50-69 Facted
70 - 84 Exquisite
85 - 94 Flawless
95 - 99 Epic Mob CR >= 20
100 Legendary Mob CR >= 40

This in effect means that all players from before the change will forever have a distinct advantage compared to those after the change right?

Forever is a long time. You can get higher damages with the new sockets, so no.

I might have misunderstood. This replaces sockets only and not the forging stones? And the big difference in the case of melee weapons is that the damage type can be higher but is randomized?

Only sockets. Not forge stones. The differences are 1 socket per item, random damages, to increase damage/mulitples you need to find better gems.

Are the damage types just elemental (Acid, Cold, Electrical, Fire, Sonic) or both elemental and physical like forge stones?
Also will there be ways to add Divine/Magical/Negative/Positive damage with sockets?

Elemental for now. Not at the moment, but it's easy enough to add it.

You have to randomly roll it is my guess.

May I suggest that the 3 socket weapons be keep BUT that a polished stone, at 1d4, can fill one socket. So you could get 3 1d4 results. As for the rest have them fill 2 sockets with one left over for a polished socket gem. The epic and legendary will fill all three sockets. I am afraid these polished gems will not be used and will just get sold unless some flexibility is used. IMHO

Also allow those specific forge stones that put damage on not be restricted to weapon that have no extra damage on them.

Upgrading the stones? Tier by tier.

If I remeber correctly I believe Diablo 2 did something similar. I think it was a 3 to 1 ratio to merge jewels to the next tier, eventually all the way up to perfect.

Bludgeoning/Piercing/Slashing/Divine/Magical and Negative damages have been added.

Runes used on any weapon type will add the extra damage property.
